I posted these pictures of my horse's left hind a while ago wondering if he had a Keratoma there. The Vet explored the defect and there was some slight drainage, he also took two xrays of the hoof. Horse is sound still as a pasture pet, and showed no sensitivity in that hoof.
He's sound in his current position.... We'll see when I start actually doing something with him. He's recently gelded as well. lol
When it will lame, you will think about how care it. As Tom Stovall said,"Don't try to repair the things before they are cracked"
Kim, I hope you shoe him before using him much, and use side clips. I have done quite a few with feet like that, and shoeing is in my mind mandatory if they are going to be used much. Regards
Yeah I'm definately shoeing him........... just amazes me how he doesn't even react to it and that's what is going on inside. He runs around the pasture as if it doesn't bother him. Well right now he's running/walking a bit bow legged but I don't think it's because of his feet.
and I have one that I did a double toe clip next to the toe crack with good results; when you shoe the horse.
When your horse is lame, you will do like that, The next thursday,I will surgery a founder/sequestrum.
