Any suggestions on shoeing a horse with a broken coffin bone? Not talking about a chip or a broken wing, but a wide vertical break at the toe splitting the bone in 1/2. I put the attached shoe on. Any feedback or criticism of the shoe would be appreciated. Made an egg bar shoe with an additional bar under the break.

    Glen,

How is the horse responding and what has been the time line?

    Thanks

He has had the shoe on for 3 days now. Standing well, before he was standing 3 legged. Slow steps, but improved from hoping on one front leg.

Normally I'd put a multi-clip shoe on to keep the horn wall stable. Usually two clips forward, two clips back towards the back to keep the heels from expanding.

What Mikel said. Or you might cast it and add a shoe to the cast.
