Made these for a horse today that I have booked in for this week. Made out of the back of the van, lateral extensions for a horse with bone spavin in both hocks

Was an eventer and also did some hunting. Only 5 years old. I took him on as other farriers couldn't keep him sound and I managed to keep him sound (even with bone spavin) he managed a great season but his hocks have progressively got worse, especially the right hock. Now he's doing some school work and some hacking and owner has said he's moving well and happy with his progress

maybe he'll feel better after the lower joints fuse in a year or two.

I am puzzled by no crease on the lateral side?

Any rotation of the limb and the do rotate... Is taken up between the interface of the ground and shoe. If you restrict this the torsion occurs in the hock

doesn't the medial crease effect it?

The medial side doesn't even touch the ground. The fullered inside is to lighten the shoe as its a bulky shoe and the plain stamped lateral toe quarter is to allow the horse to slide with loaded twist. If you look at his worn shoes (which I will take photos of) the lateral toe quarter is worn away and the medial side the nail heads are like the day I put the shoe on.

Have you ever considered building a wedged outside heel for this situation?

You would cripple it. Forcing it onto the inside where the spavin occurs would make it lie down for a month. Negative pressures is a no no in this situation
