Never saw that 'a platform' before but is it just me or is that a bit of a gimmick? Interesting bout the x-rays changing under sedation, I don't see any alternative to sedation for us here anyway, they're all under 3 and overfed.
I,m after rethinking it Tom and get it now the groove is essential as the board needs to be below the ground surface of the foot, I was forgetting this and wondering why a homemade platform would not work as easily without the swivel platforms and grooves, inexperience taking x-rays shining through there, my mistake!
ace can become dangerous; because is a more of a sedative than a tranq. with mind altering properties; it is called "angel dust" on the streets of the drug world, and usually smoked on with weed/pot. what everyone has to remember is that a tranq in animals is a stimulant in humans; and a stimulant in humans is a tranq. in animals; with the exception on ace. Ace can and will have the same effect on a horse; as on a human; with that, it has to be given with extreme caution. I have seen horses blow up on ace after 10 mins of complete quiet due to the mind altering properties of ace. ace can make a person or animal for that fact psychotic; esp. mixed with LSD
My understanding is that 'angel dust' is most commonly the street name for PCP(Phencyclidine)but has also been used by some to refer to Clenbuterol.
I have seen horses "blow up" while on ace. I prefer to work only on horses sedated with the more modern and unfortunately for the owner more expensive tranqs. Most of the vets around me seem to use dormosedan mixed with some of the pain reliver torbogesic. Never considered that the tranq might lead to lax muscles and change what one sees on the x-ray but thats a fascinating study.
