Kim think ground side of the shoe..I think Eric is gettin at if you sat the shoes flat on a table you have hammerd the thickness of the shoe to spread put thus causing the heels to be in the air so therfore the heel will drop lower just to make contact before the float will ever start to work...so the horse is starting out with being broke back..
This is what I did. I only forged the blue area. The outside is still thick. That's why I was getting confused.
Kim there are videos on you tube on how to forge and fit onion heels correctly ,Craig i think has made some as well , there are also plenty of vids on forging and fitting a rolled toe
Kim just so you know what proud stamped means. The stamp leaves an impression the full length in the pitch of the fuller & a slight imprecation in the medial of the fuller. so all four corners of the nail head are locked in. Keeping the nail head from being dragged sideways in the fuller & the fuller acting like a cam providing leverage in lifting the nail & the clinch.
See previous post. I forged the blue area, which is on the foot side. Why would you hammer the ground surface? Or is that for protecting corns?
Well I guess I don't know then...looking at the pic the sand is on every part of the shoe except the forged part so it looked to me like it was hammered from ground side..good job then as Eric said..and I guess I could never ever thing of a reason one would need to hammer from ground side...
Dang Jack!!! Since your a stickler for nail fit, I would have thought would have caught that Kim drove city heads in a shoe punched for e-heads. Your slipping a bit!!!
