Gee Id like to come work with you for a bit John Im so stuck to the same old here in my day to day work I feel stagante I want to do n learn more but for this and other forums books n videos Id be useless
yes, John I do just about anything with hair on it.. I do mostly racehorses, racetrack pony horses, hunters, dressage, fox-hunters, western pleasure, team-penning, barrel racing ect, gaited, and trail riding horses. very few jumpers/3-day eventers.
Normally don't get much variety id say 75% of my business is eventers, but did a variety today. 4 dressage horses, 3 Arabs, 2 pony trims, foundered horse, and a show hunter.
Yes Linda I agree with you whole hearted ..if she could just get tba cf behind her name all the stars would a line for kim and then and only then should could hang a shingle saying hire me I'm a farrier..
Smitty, Posted this for you. Paid better attention to the nails. I think this horse has gathered up a lot better from where he started. I don't get to do him on a good schedule. This last setting was 10 weeks old. He keeps having separation in the wall. Sometimes feel like I'm just chasing my tail on him.
don't be smart;........she needs guidance and help in her shoeing.....and one way would be thur the AFA. and to go on with others that in to competition horseshoeing....WCB... and others so she can improve on her work.
Linda, I know I need guidance and help. I'd say the WCB would be better than the AFA at that. I will be headed back up to Jaye's as soon as I can, and to the next clinic I can afford. Been a tough road at the moment, but I'm not giving up.
From what i see Kim it doesn't appear as though you're getting the feet gathered enough when you do get to shoe the horse. It seems from the angle of the pic that you still have flare in the quarter. . .appearance of wall and clip seems to be standing up a fair bit. Seems to be a front foot. . .and a pointy one at that. If that is the true shape of the toe fit it, if not you have to fit the true shape of the whiteline as best you can. Fitting distortion only gets you more distortion. A contour gauge can help train your eye to be able to relate coronary band shape to the shape of your toe. Something to consider when trimming a foot is where does it need to be trimmed. Not all feet need to be trimmed on the bottom, some just need to be top dressed. . . Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
I disagree Linda. Kimmy should be focusing on the "5 shapes of feet" purposed by Scott Simpson years ago. She has the basic "Ideas" of breakover and medio/lateral balance with her tenure. Those "shapes" are basic and one sees them everyday. The "artificial" shape(s) put forth by assiociations, groups and unions are for testing, not getting"paid". I grew up in a household where a single mother struggled to raise 2 children. Basic neccesities were food , clothing and shelter, making a living was a priority. Around 10 years old i went to work to take some of the "Pressure" off of "struggling" day to day in the family. A couple years later she, mother, was able to obtain a degree in computer science. So, the plights of you and Kimmy are not unknown.
What artificial shapes are put forth by your associations? I know the nb have an ideal but didn't realise the other associations had jumped on that bandwagon, its a pity to hear thats happened.
