Use a shoe like this on the hinds of some rope walking TWHs but not as pretty..

When I was just starting out I apprenticed on some very nicely made pacers. You would have had to work at messing them up.

But there was this one knee knocker colt that set everybody in fits. He could go like hell on the straight, but just about break his own legs on the turn. They tried all kinds of stuff to keep him from hitting but he never got into the money. I think he would have been better racing the wrong way around the track.
