Your probably right about the rasping , but it was God-awful long. The purple stuff is Durasole-there was some wld in spots. Like that toe.
Thanks, Kim. It's not deep, and I stopped. I swore to leave the hooves alone. So I saved all the pieces I cut off, and can elmer glue them back on, LOL. Kim, the crack , well, I rolled the edge. My farrier is great about teaching, correcting, etc. He's a good guy. Thanks, and I will tell you word for word what he says.
I don't know if you guys have what we call sugar sand over there or not. But IMO that's what is causing those feet to be in that shape along with the horse's conformation. I have one area that I shoe in that is nothing but sand, I see a lot of the same things there. It's tough to keep a good foot on them barefoot with the fine sand packing in the white line opening the door. IMO the fungus or bacteria is a symptom of the actual problem. Treat it all you want it will keep coming back.
Gosh is your name David??? I was replying to what David said. Trav, the more I run into people like you, the more I like my chickens.
Karen.... Terry is gonna kill you and I'm gonna kill you. The crack and the mushy white line are sure gonna get you some shoes this go round. Justin you are soo right about the sandy soil.
Oh you would be up there for sure Kim - you are the stuff of legends! Seriously - not many have as much going on for them as you do. I would also make room for Mr Underpants if he would just see the err of his mean ways.
I have to scratch my head on this banter between you two. Does someone have a secret crush their trying to suppress?
