Seems like folks walk them through every mud hole when they bring them up at the last minute... When I confirm appointments I try to remind my clients that it if it has rained , they might want to leave them up?
yes but if you don't wire brush the mud and dirt off you will go through alot more rasps and that is money down the drain to me...
Bringing a horse onto the mats in that condition is, at a minimum, a statement of disrespect to/for the farrier. I just won't work on them when they are in that condition and my clients know that ahead of time.
I offer my service to any horse owner in my area. They are not rich, fancy, or have fancy barns in my area. Just old Cowboys and Cowgirls that generally bring their horse in to me that has not had any attention to his feet in a while. These people just want their horse done the best way for them. When the owner doesn't have a full set of teeth,(which most of my owners don't) I can't expect the horse to have clean feet? If they are brought to my place, I have a high pressure water hose that gets them pretty good if they are dirty. If I go to their place, generally they run in a cow lot or runs with or without cattle in there with them....there is a pretty good sample of manure packed in their feet to clean out before I can even see how far off we are on leveling or whatever. Heck I just like the action of the business. I don't scold my customers about proper hoof care...they may not need me if I did? I cant go hungry.
THIS WAS THE NEW HORSE WE HAD NO SHOES FOR YESTERDAY THE PIC WITH THE OLD SHOE ON IS THE OFF FORE BUT THE REST OF THE PICS ARE THE NEAR FORE MADE FROM 1 1/4x 1/2 BIG FEET THE 2 APPRENTICES SHOD HIM AND MADE THE SHOES
John,do you offer hairdresser service for hoofs too? I can see that hoof is more sweet now with the hair cutted. I take note..
If you're under the age of 70, i would sooner cut off an arm or leg before i presented a horse in that condition to my farrier. i DO make exceptions for the older folks . . . NONE for those younger. you HAVE an appointment!! so it rained? it snowed? get over it and make it easier for the guys that show up and treat you Right!
Hey Rick Burten, do ya think you can post that photo I posted on fb today for me?? It is on my phone and haven't figured out how to get them on here? Thanks !
Heck I like to get out there in the middle of the lot in the blowing windstorm, or hail, or whatever...conditions seem to get me more money....Greenstamps is what it is all about..; Cowboy Up!
#### that! Around here the folks that expect you to work in the blazing sun, wind, rain etc without shelter are the ones that don't want to pay for quality. Ill take the showponies every time.
