I got these and 1 3/4 " , really nice nails. As I was told, The Group picked up a Capewell machine as scrap, reversed engineered it and made 5 new machine that Mustad eventually bought. These nails I was told were made for the NZ market. George, we'll start a new thread if you like ,but try to keep your thread here to plating. Regards Ray Steele
For plating, I use kerkhaert extra sounds. nice wide section and use ASV 1 3/4". For training plates I use malaysian trainers toe clipped fronts side clipped hinds. I shoe one yard of 6 hurdlers, there aren't many racing yards around me and I wouldn't want to increase the amount of racehorses I shoe as its dead money in most cases.
Im talking about the turning hammer onto the front of the foot while the leg was loaded. It might be common practice but I have never seen it before.
Glad u posted this Pard. Goes back to me friend Ivers. Most modern day trainers follow his protocol to an extent. God hates ur ass TOM; smiles!
My brother has plated at the breeders on a lot of occasions his first time over there he glued on a set on royal Academy to win lester piggot on board
George can you tell me what the name of those race type stall jacks? I had one very similar at home and loved it I hate the one im using here as you called it saddle horse cowboy job.
yeah, i show up to show barns with very little; and they go what?........then show them the rest is in the truck....LOL most of my work is plating OTTB's for their new careers. ....got to george, ttyl
hey, they were really bending the 1/4 Bends up at fingerlakes, causing a lot of stifle/hocks. had one come from there; couldn't get under; so sore. I don't like them too much unless need, can jam up a horse in the ice and snow.
