If the horse doesn't have a work requirement I wouldn't put shoes on it. IME it is easier to get one like this sorted on a barefoot horse that isn't working because you have time on your side and can approach the situation gradually. In a working horse you have to deal with the hoof issues AND the added strain of a work load - it takes a lot more "know how" to keep them going.

Yep. When you mix stuff into plastic (especially polyurethane) it is, encapsulated and effectively inert.
