    You might be talking of a different origin. But the hammer is a Jim Poor. At some point I think Diamond bought out a line of hammers he made.

    So I can go out with a bag of cottam's and diamond's and come back with a bag of GE and Blurton's!

    it's a non-symmetric tong. You can open the shoe with her altought the shoe is nailed. You can open one branch only or the two branches simultaneous. The name is Disymmetric tong Kulp.

    On this side of the pond we call it a "shoe spreader." It allows you to spread one or both heels of a shoe while it is nailed on a horse's foot.

    If I need to I generally use the spreader before the shoe is nailed on the hoof. It'll sometimes save a trip back to the anvil.

    How do you like it? I have one that i like for front shoes . Two curved for hinds but the head keeps chiping on the round side.
