Again you have no dam clue what you are talking about. Have you ever been out west? Have you ever been to a real ranch, not some dude place? There ain't a lot of money put in the budget for hoofcare. If there are cowboys employed by the place they will do the shoeing and it can run the scale from good to crap. If they have a farrier or two come to put on some shoes, there is a lot of work to be done horse back. When it's done those shoes stay on until a cowboy has time to redo the horse in a few weeks or until there is a bunch of work and the farrier is called back, or they just wear off. There's no regulation ever going to happen in the ranch world of farrier work. Quit living in your dream world. Quit talking about things you have no clue about. Quit wishing this was England cause it's not and never will be.

Linda dont know where you read that , there is no time scale on when feet should be worked on , also anybody can trim feet , the law only states that you must be registered to apply shoes

and that is what is wrong in this industry. and yes I know; but things are done differently on the East Coast. It should be done out there as well. no excuse for the no money for hoofcare....I just don't buy that. I know this is not Europe; but I am an Animal Care Activist and always have been, and changing peoples perceptions of what good animal care and responsibility are; and farriery is my passion, and I have dedicated my whole life to it; to help horse owners with their horses.

    Plater,
I d suggest that you go ,spend some time to accurately identify your source, and then come back, it would lend itself to "credibility" , not just for this subject but for several others.

You don't get it do you? The horses are not in any danger, they are not lame, they don't need some advocate with a bleeding heart to speak for them. They are well fed and out on pasture when available. There feet usually wear pretty nice as they move a lot going from feed to water. These horse don't have bad feet, the one's that do get sold off. If a horse can't work it's a liability and it goes against the business model of trying not to go broke. They are tools in the ranch world, not pets. Horses have to work to earn their keep.

Please stop talking about how you know how it should be. Nobody in the ranch world wants your help in making more problems and raising costs. They have a hard enough life without your help. And the horses are just fine. Go tilt at windmills somewhere else.

Nothing against windmills. Just figured she couldn't get that right either so they would be safe. My apologies to the windmill community, no harm intended.

Linda im not sure how regulations you speak of will help..smitty is in a pretty high regulated area and he showed us three that skip thru the cracks. .also im not real sure about east coast hoof mafia you speak of..cause I sent one to east coast for shows and she came back 16 weeks later sporting same shoes and a quarter to boot..I sure wish this hoof mafia would have steped in and had shoes put on her..it would have saved me a big headache
